A favorite childhood pastime during holidays by the sea was visiting the fish market or La Lonja. Then, as a university student I spent many hours identifying fish species at several lonjas. Las lonjas are places where we, the land based people, can have a little glimpse of the ocean, only so we can engulf it later.
In Garrucha, Almería, there used to be lonja every day of the week except Sundays, but overfishing resulted in a mandatory fishing pressure reduction, now there are only a few boats and not everyday.
We went there over the Easter week, Semana Santa, on a gorgeous sunny afternoon. Today I am sharing photographs taken with Canon A1 and lomochrome purple film.
